Guido Gardens
The Guido Gardens is the home of "Seeds from the Sower." The gardens and prayer chapel are open to the public and are prime spots for reflection and relaxation. The annual Christmas lighting of the gardens is a highlight. Willow Lake Golf Club
This semi-private 18-hole course challenges golfers of all levels. Many say it's the best small-town course in Georgia. Recreation Complex
The Metter-Candler Recreation Complex is known regionally for hosting many state and regional baseball and softball tournaments. Local leagues play almost every night of the week. Rec Community Center

Historic Residential Area
Nine residential blocks are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Lewis, Rountree, and Kennedy are divided streets with lots of flowers and trees. Each street has many early houses that provide a peaceful downtown neighborhood. Try the South and North Walking Tours. Metter Guide

Smith State Park has camping, hiking, picnicking and excellent fishing a few miles north of Metter. The Canoochee, Ohoopee, Ogeechee and the Altamaha rivers are all within thirty minutes of Metter and provide activities from fishing to water skiing. Historic Downtown
Three city blocks along with the courthouse are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Enjoy the shady lawn in the center of town or browse one of the many specialty shops, including two with old-fashion soda fountains. Visit the restored train depot used as a museum and meeting place. The Metter Welcome Center is a fully restored lumber mill commissary with heart pine beaded ceilings and walls. Its picnic area looks out onto Paradise Lake. The welcome center is at the crossing of the Woodpecker Trail and I-16 (Exit 104.)
Historic Candler County
Candler County has historic sites throughout the county. Farming
Metter is located in a rich farming area for peanuts, cotton and soybeans. Hendrix Produce is a large Vidalia onion grower and seller. A Mennonite settlement has its own farm market that sells home-made bakery items, local produce and hand-crafted furniture. |
Another Bloomin' Festival
Metter has Another Bloomin' Festival each spring on Easter weekend. Large crowds come for the arts and crafts, flea market, food, entertainment, classic cars, bicycle rides, motorcycle rides, Easter egg hunt, flower show and artifacts show. Cutting Edge Communications

The native blossoms of Candler County Elliottia Racemosa can be found in the Charles C. Harrold Nature Preserve along with the rare gopher tortoise.
